Connie grew up on a farm southwest of Gull Lake that has been in her family for 111 years. She has two amazing daughters; one in Regina and one here in Swift. Connie moved to Swift Current from Regina to be closer to her two beautiful granddaughters.
Connie has held some interesting positions in her career over the years. For example, she was the Executive Assistant to Ralph Klein when he stepped down as Alberta Premier and joined the law firm where she worked. And despite being an avid Roughriders fan, she even worked for one of the co-owners of the Calgary Stampeders (we’ll forgive her for that one) for a period of time.
Connie loves camping and fishing and recently taught her 7 year old granddaughter how to fish – and she hated it! She has a 20 year old cat, plays in a pool league in the winter, loves the online game, World of Warcraft, and knits, crochets, and does cross-stitch. She even plays the accordion!
Connie is also very handy as demonstrated by her building a 6 foot fence between her and her neighbour all by herself!
As with all team members, we had Connie take the infamous “STRIDE Interview” in order to get to know her better…
Q. If you could invite 3 people to a dinner party, living or dead, who would they be?
A. My mom, my dad and my grandmother (all who have passed away). I have so many questions to ask them now that I’m an adult with children and grandchildren
Q. What is your most bizarre talent?
A. I don’t think I have one. Everything I do is pretty mundane!
Q. Name 3 albums or books that really resonate with you.
A. The Outlander Series by Diana Gabaldon; Gone With The Wind by Margaret Mitchell; any book by Douglas Preston & Lincoln Child
Q. Everyone has a guilty pleasure. What’s yours?
A. Sitting on my couch, doing some kind of handwork (knitting, crocheting, or cross-stitch) and watching movies/tv
Q. If you could travel anywhere, where would you go?
A. A canal/river cruise through England and Scotland
Q. Tell us one thing that very few people know about you.
A. My sister and I started playing the multi-player online game, World of Warcraft, over 9 years ago and my daughters were (at first) horrified!
Q. What inspires you?
A. My daughters and my granddaughters.
Q. If you could choose one superpower, what would it be?
A. To teach everyone to love, instead of hate.
Q. Describe yourself in 3 words.
A. Loyal, dependable, and quiet (until I get to know you)
